PROJECTS
NORGOLD PROJECT
Titan has an option to earn up to 50% on The "Norgold" property. The property consists of 40 mining claims covering just under 700 hectares, and is located near Kenora, in the Sault Ste Marie mining division of Northern Ontario.
The project sits adjacent to the old "Sakoose" Gold Mine, which produced gold from 1897 to 1902 until operations were suspended when the mill burned down in 1902. During that time, it was only mined to a depth of approximately 60 metres. Production totaled 3,669 ounces of gold from the 8,828 tons extracted (= 0.41 oz Au /ton). King’s Bay Gold currently owns the Sakoose Gold Mine. Recent exploration programs in the summer of 2008 identified new gold zones discovered below and to the east of the Old Mine Workings and King’s Bay began acquiring additional claims in the area.
Prior to Titan acquiring an interest in the property, it had seen limited exploration since 1902 and most of the past drill holes were at shallow depths. Other zones outside the original underground workings were discovered in 1988 but were not systematically followed-up. Recent ground geophysics have confirmed the existence and exact location of the mineralized zone, found in and around the location of the old mine works.
Titan’s 2009 grab sample program yielded extremely encouraging results; assays on samples tested included results close to bonanza grade of over 90 g/tonne Au. The Company is eager to continue with the next phase of its exploration programs on this highly prospective property. A spring/summer program is anticipated and will be announced as details are finalized.
Geology
The occurrence is underlain by mafic metavolcanic rocks of the Kawashegamuk Lake group.
Mineralization
The dark blue to smoky quartz veins pinch and swell. The quartz is opaque to cloudy and displays a granular texture. The vein is very often fractured and rarely carbonatized. |
